High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)
SYMPTOMS. There are no early signs. Later signs may include headache,
insomnia, weakness, dizziness and palpitations. If hypertension is left
uncontrolled for a long period it may lead to chest pain, heart attack, eye
changes, heart enlargement, stroke and kidney problems.
CAUSES. It can be a deadly disease but it is readily detectable by routine
examinations and blood pressure readings. Narrowing of the kidney artery or
aorta, or a benign gland tumor may be an underlying cause.
TREATMENT. Decreased use of salt in foods will help as will weight reduction
.Surgery may be required for underlying causes.
